A/Prof Anne O'Connell

Anne O’Connell is currently the President of the International Association of Dental Traumatology.  She is a Board Certified Paediatric Dentist,  a Fellow of the AAPD and IADT and most recently awarded the Art Nowak Visiting Professorship, 2020 in Iowa, USA.  Anne is Head of Paediatric Dentistry at Trinity College, Dublin Her Paediatric dentistry training was completed at the Eastman Dental Center, USA  with she obtained a further degree in Cariology from the University of Rochester, New York.  She continued in academics, working in Eastman Dental Center, the University of Maryland and the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research, Bethesda, USA.  She returned to Ireland in 2000 and developed and the only PG training course in Ireland, and initiated a Trauma clinic. Her passion is in teaching and education of UG and PG students and also GDPs.  Her areas of interest include cariology, traumatic oral injuries, infant oral health and developmental defects of the dentition. She remains active in numerous national and international organisations such as IADT, IADR, IAPD, EAPD and AAPD.  Anne has been Honorary Editor, IAPD and is presently on the Scientific Committee of AAPD, Education committee, IAPD, and serves on many editorial boards and national committees. Anne also maintains a part-time private practice limited to Paediatric Dentistry in Dublin and has 3 children.

 

Prof Joerg Meyle

Graduated as Dentist, Eberhard-Karls-University of Tuebingen, Germany in 1980. Specialist in Oral Surgery and Periodontics (D.D.S.), Specialist in Periodontology in 1984. Graduated as Dr. Med. Dent. (D.M.D.) in 1984. Professor and Director, Department of Periodontology, University of Giessen since 1994. Honorary Professor University of HongKong in 2015 and renewed in 2018. 

 

Member of the Executive Committee (reelected in 2003) of the European Federation of Periodontology (EFP) from 1998 to 2010. Honorary Member American Academy of Periodontology (AAP) since 2015. Board member International Academy of Periodontology (IAP) from 2010. President-elect of the IAP in 2019.

 

Member of the Editorial Board of various national and international peer-reviewed journals

 

Research focus on Pathogenesis of periodontitis, Antiinfective Therapy, Regenerative Therapy, Implant Therapy in Patients with Periodontitis, Treatment of Peri-implantitis

Author and co-author of more than 190 Publications, 19 book chapters in national and

international peer-reviewed journals.

Prof Sreenivas Koka

Dr. Sreenivas Koka received DDS and MS (prosthodontics) degrees from The University of Michigan. He joined the University of Nebraska faculty in 1992, became a Diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics in 1995, and received his PhD in Oral Biology from the University of Nebraska in 1999. While at the University of Nebraska, Dr. Koka received the Outstanding Teacher Award on numerous occasions and was the inaugural Merritt C. Pedersen Professor of Dentistry. He joined the Staff of Mayo Clinic in 2004 and is former Consultant, former Professor of Dentistry and former Chairman of the Department of Dental Specialties in Rochester, Minnesota. Dr. Koka received an MBA from MIT's Sloan School of Management in 2013 and moved to Zurich, Switzerland to be Executive Director of the Foundation for Oral Rehabilitation. Dr. Koka moved back to the US to focus on patient care and student education and open Koka Dental Clinic, a private practice focused on implant and removable prosthodontics in San Diego.  In April 2021, Dr. Koka became Dean of the University of Mississippi School of Dentistry.


Dr. Koka is past interim Chair of Restorative Dentistry at UCLA School of Dentistry and is also Clinical Professor in Advanced Prosthodontics at Loma Linda University School of Dentistry.  He is a Fellow and Past-President of the Academy of Prosthodontics, a Fellow of the American College of Dentists, a member of the ADA/CDA/SDCDS, President of the International College of Prosthodontists, and is Chair of MIT’s Sloan School of Management Alumni Board.Dr. Koka has published over 100 journal articles and book chapters and lectures extensively nationally and internationally. Dr. Koka has been a reviewer for NIH grants and been a principal investigator on grants funded by NIH and industry sources. In addition, Dr. Koka is the co-founder of the Future Leaders in Prosthodontics (FLIP) and Shaping the Future of Implant Dentistry (SHIFT) workshop series.

A/Prof Rosalyn Sulyanto

A/Prof Rosalyn Sulyanto graduated with a double major in Bioengineering and Materials Science and Engineering from UC Berkeley and received her D.M.D. degree from Harvard School of Dental Medicine. While at Harvard, she conducted research on bone development as a Howard Hughes Medical Institute Fellow.

She completed her residency in pediatric dentistry at Nationwide Children’s Hospital/The Ohio State University and was a recipient of the 3M ESPE Preventive Pediatric Dentistry Postdoctoral Research Fellowship, the Ralph E MacDonald Award, and was awarded a Master’s Degree in Dentistry.

Dr. Sulyanto is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry.  She is a clinical specialist in Pediatric Dentistry and the Director of Post-Doctoral Research at Boston Children’s Hospital/Harvard School of Dental Medicine.  Her research interests include the prevention of childhood caries and the oral microbiome.
